Daddy Goes on a Mission Trip

Jason just got back from a week long mission trip to Cancun and Kantunilkin, Mexico. Seven high school/ college students from our church went, as well as Rick (our youth intern) and his girlfriend, Dallas.

They had a productive week there in Mexico reaching out to other youth. They poured themselves into the lives of those kids. Even though there was a language barrier, God allowed actions to speak loud. You can see the happiness in this little boy's face. He knew this American group really cared about him.

They led a sports camp in the Mayan village, and it was very hot there. There was not a piece of dry clothing left on their skin.

Mauricio is our contact missionary in Mexico - he transported Jason and their team aroud Mexico, stayed with them in the mission house, worked alongside them all week, and even interpreted for them. (He's the Hispanic guy in the blue shirt on the far right in the picture above).

God really spoke to the hearts of our youth while they were in Mexico, transforming their minds and attitudes about serving others and that it really doesn't take much material things to make you happy. They also began to see the importance of having quiet time with God.

Seven of the Hispanic children made decisions to follow Christ, too. It doesn't get any better than that.

We are so thankful for what God did during the last week - and we're so glad to have daddy back home!

The other day, Rocco told me that he wanted to be a missionary when he grows up. His daddy is definitely making an impact on him!

Sydney and Rocco in the Cold Creek

One of the best things about living in our small town is that you can go any time down to the park and enjoy the fresh spring, cave, and creek. On hot summer days, there's really no better place to be. There are ducks and fish to feed,

water to wade in,

swings in the shade to relax in,

a stone path and bridges to walk along

and even a path to ride on. If you get too hot, there's a fresh spring to drink from.

So grab a friend and head on down to the creek. We did!
