Rocco and I enjoyed snuggling in the morning, getting up later than usual, and doing whatever we wanted. Sometimes that meant playing outside on our new slip and slide. . .
Nana and granddaddy's pool is one of our favorite spots this summer. . . especially when Drew and Sydney are there.
One day this summer we were all there (Ben, Tonya "Ta", Drew, Sydney, Gary, Carolyn, Jason, Rocco, and I.) This was the first time since Christmas that we were all together at Carolyn's on Sunday dinner. We were there to celebrate Tonya's birthday.
On a few occassions, we had play date with friends. One day we went to Will Cox's house. Another day we went to Matthew Shoaf's house and played in the water.
This month Rocco has really gotten into Toy Story. He goes around the house saying, "To infinity and beyond!" In the morning he'll get on my back and say, "Ride like the wind, Bullseye!"
The fourth of July started out with a big bummer - Rocco and I overslept and missed the parade. The show went on without us. Jason, Tonya, Drew, Sydney, Allison, Colston, and Chloe' were on the tractor. That afternoon (July 3rd - Saturday) we celebrated my mom's 53rd birthday. We had a big cookout; I made 2 homemade cakes(peanut butter and strawberry).
On my mom's actual birthday, July 5th, Rocco and I went up there to spend time with my family. We had a lot of fun with baby Daelyn on the slip and slide and in the baby pool.
The next day, my dad and I took Rocco and Daelyn to the Discovery Kids Museum. Rocco didn't want to leave. It was a great place for them to play, explore, and even do crafts.
July is such a big month for birthdays. My mom, my brother, Jason's sister, and several of Rocco's friends celebrated their special days. We went to Waylon's bowling party. This was a fun party because Rocco was able to catch up with some of his tee ball teammates. Here's Hayes, Waylon, Rocco, and Matthew. Jason went with us and helped all the boys with their bowling game. They did really well with his help (the gutters were blocked off AND they had a ramp, too).
Jason, Rocco, and I also went to Jake Medley's birthday party. He turned 2. Is he not the cutest blonde headed boy you've ever seen?
I think this was one of THE funnest outside kids' parties I've ever been to. They had 2 pools, 2 slip and slides, and gators / bobcats for the kids to ride around in.
Being able to stay at home with Rocco had been such a blessing. We've done a few home projects, like organizing Rocco's closet and putting an entire kitchen / McDonald's playset inside it.
Rocco and I also took a special trip to Daytona, Florida, with my mom this month. We stayed at a really nice condo in an ocean view room for five days. We only ate out once at a seafood restaurant, and we did play miniature golf one night. The rest of the time we stayed near the pool and beach. Honestly, we were just beach bums. It was great not having to get ready or fix up to go anywhere. The place where we stayed had a lazy river, a kiddie water area ( our favorite),
a water slide, 2 pools, and a little snack area where we bought some delicious pina colada and strawberry slushies. Rocco enjoyed getting his feet wet in the ocean water, but he played it cautious. He held on to our hands if he ventured too far, and when the waves would come in the shallow part, he would quickly get behind his mimi. For the most part, he didn't like the ocean water. I couldn't talk him into going out in it with us. What he did enjoy was playing in the sand with his shovel, mini excavator, dump truck, and a dart game I brought.
He and his mimi enjoyed walking in the sand while I rode a few rough waves on my boogie board. My parents have been married for 36 years, and this was my mom's first long trip away without my dad. It was a first for us - a girl trip.

And I had to close with this cute picture of Rocco in my hat. On the long ride to Florida, Rocco did so good. Part of the time he watched Toy Story 1 and 2. His favorite is the second one because it has the horse, Bullseye, and Jessie in it. There's a part at the end of the movie where Woody loses his hat. Over and over, Rocco would quote that line from the movie as he played with his potato head toy. "Oh no! He lost his hat! What's a cowboy without his hat? Yee Ha! Ride 'em cowboy!" Here's my cute cowboy coming home with his hat. . . and a nice tan!
